Bagara Rice Recipe

Bagara Rice or Bagara khana is a traditional rice recipe made with rice,onion, spices, coriander and cooked in ghee or oil.It is more popularly served with Dalcha and Korma. Bagara Rice is perfect fit for various functions, weddings and weekly dish for weekends family meals. It is very easy to prepare the rice and takes less than 30 mins to prepare the recipe .This rice definitely adds a unique taste to Dalcha,Korma and even tastes delicious with Dal.

Bagara Rice Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 Cups Basmati Rice
- 3 Tablespoon Oil
- 2 Teaspoon Black Cumin (Shah zeera )
- 2 inch Cinnamon stick
- 1 Star anise
- 4-5 Green Cardamom
- 8-9 Cloves
- 2 Bay Leaves
- 1 Big size Onion
- 4 Cups Water
- Salt to Taste
- 1/2 Lemon
- a Pinch Food color
- 1/4 cup Coriander Leaves
Instructions
Preparation
- Rinse rice with water and then soak it for at least for 30 minutes.
- Sliced the onion.
- Chopped coriander leaves.
Making Bagara Rice
- In a pan heat oil and add black cumin ,cinnamon stick ,star anise ,green cardamom, cloves ,bay leaves .Let them crackle .
- Add sliced onion and sauté till they turn slightly light golden.
- Add water and let it boil.
- Add drained rice in boiling water and salt according to taste.
- Add lemon juice.
- Cook the rice uncovered till the water dries up.
- Cover the pan and cook rice on slow fame for 10 minutes or till rice is done.
- If you want to add color then pour color on rice.
- Add coriander leaves.
- Then switch off the stove and it is ready to served.
