Aloo Methi Recipe

Aloo Methi
Aloo methi is a very simple and healthy dish made with potatoes and fenugreek leaves.
Ingredients
- 2 to 3 medium size potatoes
- 1 bunch fenugreek leaves (methi)
- 2 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tbsp asafoetida (hing)
- 5-6 garlic cloves
- 1/2 turmeric powder
- 4-5 green chillies
- Salt to taste

Preparation
- Remove the leves from stem of fenugreek (methi) leaves. Wash it 3 to 4 times.
- Soak the fenugreek leaves in bowl of water and add 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Rinse well and chopped the fenugreek leaves and keep aside.
- Rinse the potatoes and peel it .Cut the potatoes in cube or square.
- Remove the cover of garlic cloves and chopped it.
- Cut the green chillies.
Making Aloo Methi
- Heat oil in a pan,then add cumin seed and let it crackle.
- Add garlic and saute for few second till it change colour. Add asafoetida(hing).
- Then add chopped potatoes and stir well.Cover it and cook until potatoes are cooked well.
- Add chopped fenugreek leaves,chillies ,turmeric and salt.Stir well.
- Cooked for few minutes without cover.
- Fenugreek will leave water cook on low flame for few minutes.
- Allo methi is ready to serve.
- Serve aloo methi with chapati or rice or prathas.
Notes
To avoid bitterness of fenugreek leaves ,you should add salt in water and soaked the fenugreek leaves and then rinse and wash it again.
